Q: Who is eligible to play?
A: Any child between the age of 5-13 by the start date of each season is eligible to play. There is no experience required - just a great attitude and desire for safe and inclusive flag football fun!

Q: How much experience is required for players and/or volunteer coaches?
A: NONE! We are proud of our inclusivity and commitment to our coaching of players and training of our coaches to ensure that anyone can have a fun and successful flag football season with us - whether it's your rookie season or you are an experienced veteran! We begin each season with the basics and progress as the season continues with more advanced skills, plays, and strategies.

Q: How are players placed on teams?
A: We use a system that is a combination of using player info such as age, experience, size, athletic ability (part of our registration questionnaire), and buddy requests to create as balanced and evenly matched teams as we can with the information we have during the pre-season. This is not taken likely and we do our best to create a level playing field for all teams.

Q: When are the games and practices?
A: We practice about 45 min before each scheduled game. There are no weeknight practices - so convenient! Arrive at the time on your schedule and your young athlete will be warmed up, participate in drills, review plays, and play a 45 min game directly after. Each 'play session' is about 90 minutes each Sunday.

Q: What equipment is included with registration and what do I need to provide for my child to play?
A: Each NFL Flag registration includes a reversible NFL Flag team jersey (real NFL teams!) and an official NFL Flag belt that will be fitted and cut to size on the first day. BOTH are yours to keep and must be brought to each game by you. Additional equipment needed to play are non-metal spiked cleats, pocketless shorts or athletic pants, and a mouthguard. Optional equipment includes gloves, arm sleeves, headbands, etc. Refer to the NFL Flag SIZING CHART for more detailed sizing info. Jewelry, watches, or any other apparel or equipment that could be snagged are not allowed during play. Everything you need to play can be purchased from Charm City Athletics during registration EXCEPT for cleats. Your ENTIRE order, including uniform, flag belt, extra equipment, extra footballs, and parent apparel will be dispersed on the first day.

Q: Who will be coaching my child's team?
A: As a rec league, our program relies on parent/family volunteers to coach our teams! Each team will have up to 4 assigned coaches. One head coach and assistant coaches or 2 or more co-coaches. There is no greater bond that you will form with your child then through coaching them in youth sports. We will walk you through everything that you will need to be a successful coach in this program. No experience is necessary! Charm City Athletics provides MANY resources to our coaches including virtual trainings, practice planning assistance, an archive of high quality video drills, NFL Flag playbook, a comprehensive rulebook, AND a coaches meeting before the season begins to answer any questions. We HIGHLY encourage any parents interested in coaching to register during player registration. PLUS - you get an awesome discount for coaching! We have had an endless number of parents who were apprehensive to coach and finished the season EXTREMELY happy to have tried it! In fact, Charm City Athletics began with me coaching my son, Diego, during his first flag football season.

Q: Are coaches subject to a background check?
A: YES! We partner with NFL Flag and a company called Chekr to provide a free background check for all of our head coaches. More information about our Background Check can be found HERE. Additionally, we have implemented a strict, zero-tolerance Abuse - Molestation Policy, which you can find HERE. Your child's safety and well-being is the TOP priority for our organization. Our mission is to be safe, inclusive, and fun!

Q: Does every play get an opportunity to play?
A: Our league mission is to provide safe, fun, and inclusive play for all players involved. Our coaches do their best to allocate equal playing times to all players. It is not always possible for exactly equal playing times for all but that is the goal.
